Maremma-Komondor Sheepdog puppies
We have Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) puppies that are 3/4 Maremma and 1/4 Komondor. These breeds are two of the best sheepdog breeds, being fierce livestock protectors possessing a natural guardian instinct to guard livestock and other property. Both breeds are known in Europe as wolf killers and are almost exclusively used as working dogs protecting livestock. Most LGD breed normally patrol large areas, and in effect require a good fence to keep the dogs from wandering off. However, both Maremma and Komondor stay with the flock and usually never leave the flock unattended. On occasion they do patrol their area, but even then they do not go farther then a couple hundred feet away from their flock. The Maremma-Komondor mix is one of the best sheepdog mixes, being very healthy, fierce, and alert. The mix usually possesses the great qualities of each breed while it tends not to have the health issues common to either of the purebreds.
The sire was pure Maremma Sheepdog, and the dam is 1/2 Maremma 1/2 Komondor. Both of the parents are active working dogs on a sheep farm. They protect sheep, goats, and chickens, and get along well with cows and cats. The sire was very fierce, he killed coyotes and chased off dogs of any size. We never lost a single animal to wild predators, even though we have coyotes and cougars in the area. However, our dogs have never attacked people, they just positioned themselves between the livestock and the stranger while barking at the stranger.
Our puppies greatly resemble Maremma Sheepdogs, and will likely grow up to be a little bit larger than an average Maremma. We have eight beautiful puppies available, four male and four female, to choose from. They are all very strong, healthy, alert, and active puppies. Since the parents are active working dogs, the puppies are currently living with sheep and goats, and are exposed to cows, poultry, and cats.
